Moon Watch: Blue Side of the Moon

Blue moon baby, LA lady, seamstress for the band…

It’s a blue moon. No, you mean a full moon.

It’s a full moon, No, you mean it’s All Hallow’s Eve.

Hold up - it’s all of these things? Ya damn right it is.

full moon 101

Okay so we’ve talked about this here and there (and everywhere), but just to refresh your memory - the full moon is all about your full moon ritual and about release. Set up your altar, reflect on your accomplishments as of late, charge your crystals, make some moon water, and chant your fucking soul out. Release your built up energy under the energy of the full moon and bask in that magick, kids.

full moon in taurus

Such sensory energy, taurus energy just wants to feel. And be felt. And eat. And whatever they friggen feel like, really. Don’t you know any tauruses? They’re relentless. They do whatever the hell they want, whenever the hell they want. So let’s join them!!! Sounds fun, no?

We can ground ourselves during this full moon by feeding our immediate sensory needs. Treat yoself - let’s practice some taurus-style self care: listen to some good music, eat some good food, embrace nature, dance your heart out, look at some nice things, get dressed up, and touch some thangs. When the moon phase hits its full moon phase, it is climaxing, and you should, too. Don’t be weird, I meant figuratively - live your best life, obviously…

Also super practical energy, taurus energy makes us think about security. How are you doing? How is your mental health? How is your emergency fund? Are you all set up for the month ahead? Are you prepared for the worst, or have you at least thought about it? (Don’t dwell though - overthinking about stability and what not is pretty exhausting to be completely honest. Responsible, but exhausting).

Taurus energy also means stubborn energy. Let’s use this full moon to really dive deep within ourselves, reflect on what we’re dealing with, and acknowledge what needs to be changed. Without doing this, how will we change? Spoiler: we won’t. So don’t let this taurus energy stop you from making really solid and productive decisions, okay friends? Basically, don’t be like me and really work hard to push past the stubbornness.

scorpio sun, taurus moon

We all know how mysterious (and frankly, sketchy) scorpio energy can be. This taurus energy is meant to ground us during this season, reminding us that we don’t have to hide ourselves all the time - we can just say what we mean. Will there be consequences? Yes, speaking your truth ain’t easy. Will it be worth it? Yes, honesty is always the best policy. If you ask someone and they say otherwise, they’re straight up wrong.

blue moon magic?

First things first - a blue moon just means that it is the second full moon of the calendar month to grace us with its presence. Apparently astrologers would tell you that blue moon magic occurs when the second full moon of the solar month is what makes it blue…but I disagree, probably because I am not an astrologer. So proceed with caution, but here is my two cents about the whole thing.

Every full moon is magic, which makes the blue moon…well, magic.

All Hallow’s Eve is a time of immense, powerful magic, which makes the blue moon, occurring on All Hallow’s Eve, magic.

Magic is what you make it, and if I decide that the blue moon magic is magical, then it simply is. Magic is in the eye of the beholder. That’s the popular saying, no?

So basically, blue moons occurring twice in a calendar month aren’t ‘magical’ because of them falling into the man-made calendar. I can get down with this, however, I believe that all full moons are created equal, and therefore are all special. This blue moon we are having is really just a full moon, and what makes it extra special is the fact that it falls on All Hallow’s Eve.

Praise be.

Under the moonlight,
